Description:
Abstract:
This chapter refers to the understanding of basic concepts in urban transport by all means and the quantitative and qualitative parameters that express these concepts. It also refers to understanding the quantitative and qualitative parameters that relate to sustainable mobility in general. Concepts such as the level of service in various modes of transport (car, bus, bicycle, walking) and in the various components of transport networks (interurban road section, urban road, junction, etc.), safety in the urban environment, accessibility, quality of travel, etc. are examined and analyzed in detail. This chapter describes how these concepts are described and represented by appropriate variables, as well as how they are measured in practice (recording methods, sampling, etc.). Finally, examples are given of how they can be used to create simple or complex indicators for comparative evaluation and ranking purposes.
