Description:
Abstract:
This book is the result of the authors' efforts to present, in a unified framework, the basic components of the urban transport network and to provide guidelines for their harmonious coexistence in an urban area, in order to promote sustainable urban mobility. The main motivation for writing the book was to meet the need for a text that analyzes all means of transport in an urban environment, as existing publications refer separately to the various means and modes of transport, such as urban road networks, cycle paths, or public transport. In the modern sustainable approach to transport planning, where the dominance of the private car has been replaced—or at least there is an attempt to significantly reduce its use—by the equal use of all modes of transport, it is now considered necessary to take an integrated view and assessment of urban networks, as well as to manage the existing transport system effectively using modern methods.
