Description:
Abstract:
In this chapter several methods for describing data are introduced, in terms of tables, diagrams and maps. More specifically, the following methods are analyzed: a. frequency distributions and the relevant diagrams (bar charts and histograms), as well as crosstabulations, b. graphical representations, i.e. the ternary diagram and the Lorenz curve, c. measures of central tendency and their application in spatial data analysis through the calculation of geostatistical measures (mean center and median center), d. measures of dispersion and their application in spatial data analysis through the calculation of standard distance.
