Authors: Karakasi, Aikaterini

Reviewer: Chrysanthopoulos, Michalis
Description:
Abstract:
The chapter outlines broadly the literary genres and types in Modernism. It begins with the reappearance of Rhetoric (see simile and Baudelaire) and then focuses on the poetic ruptures that take place with the main avant-garde movements of the 20th century (Dada, Futurism) and on the new genres that emerge in lyric poetry as well as in dramatic discourse. The chapter closes with excerpts from relevant theoretical and literary texts and in-depth exercises, a summary, and bibliography.
