The purpose of this chapter is to examine the equilibrium condition of the external sector. In the previous chapter, we analyzed the determination of the exchange rate under both floating and fixed exchange rate regimes. Now, we explore the relationship that must exist between income and interest rates for the foreign exchange market, that is, the external sector, to be in equilibrium. In other words, we study the equilibrium condition of the external sector.
