Description:
Abstract:
This chapter extends the analysis of income determination by adding two important variables: government (or public) expenditures and taxation. These two variables (government spending and taxes) constitute the main components of the government budget. The size of the government budget in modern states is extremely large relative to income, and therefore the impact of its changes is very significant. In this chapter, we examine how government spending, taxes, and the size of the budget affect the level of income in the economy.
