Description:
Abstract:
In this chapter, the importance of evaluating various laboratory tests and analyses is emphasized, from which the dietitian can gain valuable information both at the initial level of the patient's nutritional assessment and at the level of monitoring the patient who has already received nutritional intervention. The chapter focuses on the most common biochemical parameters determined in blood or urine samples, which are related either to the function of vital organs or to the nutritional status of patients. The role, the range of normal values, and the interpretation of values outside the normal limits for various biochemical parameters are discussed.
