It includes numerical methods and computational techniques that will be used in the following chapters. Specifically, it addresses the algebraic solving of equations to find equilibrium points and periodic trajectories in dynamical systems, the numerical solution of differential equations that describe dynamical systems and cannot be solved analytically, and finally, discrete Fourier transforms for studying periodic, quasi-periodic, and chaotic trajectories.
