Description:
Abstract:
This chapter introduces the dynamics of systems beyond the plane. Dissipative systems are studied through the Lorenz system, while conservative systems are examined through Hamiltonian systems with two degrees of freedom. The concepts of equilibrium points and stability are extended to these systems, and the behavior of trajectories is studied using numerical integrations. The following sections are included: Equilibrium points and the linearized system Dynamics of the nonlinear system The Lorenz system Hamiltonian systems Exercises
