Description: | |
Abstract: |
In our era, concepts such as "biofuels," "biomass," "bioethanol," and "biodiesel" often cause confusion not only among the general public but also within the scientific community. These notes, within the framework of the course "Biotechnology and Environment," represent a first attempt to provide our students with the tools to use these terms not abstractly but as tools of Chemical Engineering science, which always seeks to provide environmentally friendly solutions, adapting to requirements that are not only scientific but also social. Finally, we hope that these notes will serve as a catalyst for many of our students to become protagonists in transforming our society towards the use of sustainable and environmentally clean practices.
