This chapter will cover introductory issues regarding document analysis methods, with reference to concepts such as information discovery, data mining, ontologies, thematic maps, etc. It will discuss understanding the methods of document analysis through the construction and use of ontologies and their correlation with other fields of application (e.g., GIS). Examples and bibliography will be provided.
