Abstract: |
In this chapter, the functions are introduced, with a pedagogical quotation of the basic definitions, an introduction and a complete study of the basic types of functions. The approach followed is first algebraic, with analysis of algebraic properties, and then graphical, with visualization of the characteristic form, in correspondence with physical applications. Also included is the study of monotonicity, periodicity of functions as well as operations between functions. As in all chapters, a detailed methodology for solving exercises is provided with an organized structure from simple types to more complex ones, covering the usual set of problems faced in higher education.
