Abstract: |
This chapter introduces critical issues and concepts of business reorganization and familiarizes the reader with this important management tool. Reorganization presupposes an existing organizational structure of the business, which has now become outdated and constitutes an obstacle to business plans. The redesign of the business process aims to review the way of working and operating, but also to restructure production and the goods offered, with the aim of better serving customers, reducing operating costs, and upgrading international competitiveness. A key tool and incentive for this redesign is the continuous development of information systems and intangible networks. Reorganization involves radically changing and examining established assumptions and views within the company that are seriously hindering its development. During implementation, it exploits all technological, human, and organizational factors, especially information technology. If successful, it leads to organizational restructuring and radical reorganization of business functions and activities. An important key to its success is the effective management of conflicts that arise during change. This chapter distinguishes between strategic and operational reorganization, depending on the qualitative change it causes within the company. The chapter concludes with real-life examples of the reorganization of two companies, so that the reader can understand as much as possible all the critical dimensions of the phenomenon and the role of management in it.
