External business growth and reorganization: mergers and acquisitions
Authors: Georgopoulos, Antonios
Reviewer: Polychroniou, Panagiotis
Description:
Abstract:
This chapter analyzes external business growth through mergers and acquisitions and highlights some of their key implications in terms of reorganizing business activities. The external growth of companies constitutes a different path of growth compared to that followed in the case of internal growth through new establishments (Greenfields). The absorption of target companies into the buyer's group results in significant restructuring in terms of production specialization, organizational changes, and conflicts within the workforce.
