| Abstract: |
We combine the dynamic versions of aggregate demand (AD) and aggregate supply (AS), outlined in the previous two chapters, to study the short-run macroeconomic equilibrium and the long-run adjustment after exogenous shocks that imping on either AD or AS. First, we demonstrate the effects of fiscal policy, monetary policy, inflationary shocks, and changes in potential output, when the nominal interest rate takes on positive values. Then, we discuss analytically the scope of policy options when the nominal interest rate falls to its zero lower bound.
