Abstract:
The book explores the intellectual, educational, philosophical, and literary dimensions of the Renaissance through the analysis of representative works and excerpts. It examines the transition from the Late Middle Ages to the Renaissance and the emergence of the humanist movement, which redefined education, historiography, philology and philosophy while reviving classical studies. In the initial chapters, the foundational figures of humanism, their key works, and the development of a new educational model focused on the studia humanitatis and the teaching of Latin and Greek classics are presented. Subsequently, the book examines historiographical works, biographies, philosophical texts, and mythographical approaches, highlighting the thematic and methodological diversity of the Renaissance. It also delves into philological works addressing the proper use of Latin and the interpretation of classical texts, as well as epistolary samples that reflect the rhetorical skill of the era. Overall, the book provides a comprehensive overview of the intellectual revival of the period, showcasing representative examples of the key directions and developments of the Renaissance.
