Abstract: |
Connection among the arts through the prism of inter-artistic approach has its roots in aesthetic education. Without losing sight of the distinct differences of each art, inter-artistic approach attempts to bring the arts into a creative dialogue. Reference is made to the philosophy of art and how it influenced the principles of inter-artistic understanding, the aesthetic education and the importance of the arts in school, to aesthetic, museum and visual literacy, to transformative learning through aesthetic experience. Some steps are suggested in how we "read" a work of art. Εxamples of three inter-artistic projects are suggested: the "Digital Painting Museum of the Ionian Islands", getting to know the music of ancient Greece through musical iconography and Greek mythology, and "Musical explorations in Achilleion Museum".
