Musical tools for designing music education activities
Authors: Dionyssiou, Zoe
Reviewer: Akoyunoglou, Mitsy
Description:
Abstract:
This chapter focuses on the musical tools available to the music educator for teaching music. Initially, reference is made to the need to expand the field of music education to include the sound and all possible sounds and cultures. The means of sound production are briefly examined, namely the voice, the body, musical instruments and sound-producing objects. In addition to the three basic tools also mentioned in the Music Curriculum (listening, performance, composition), a six-axis framework is given for planning activities in the music lesson: movement, singing, playing with instruments, improvisation and composition, music listening, and musical literacy.
