Abstract:
The chapter focuses on the planning and preparation of the music lesson by the music teacher. It refers to teaching models, methods and strategies related to the teaching of music. It approaches ways of organizing a lesson plan that refers to one didactic hour, as well as ways of organizing a teaching scenario, that refers to the teaching of a unit of lessons around the same topic. Some of the issues explored in this chapter are: how the teacher plans and prepares for a music lesson? why is lesson planning necessary? what does lesson planning offer to the student and the teacher, and ultimately how does it promote learning? Also, some common problems among new music teachers in the school classroom are presented and analyzed, and how these can be addressed during university training and teaching placement.
