Modern anti-Semitism (Racial, Political anti-Semitism)
Authors: Kavala, Maria
Description:
Abstract:
The conditions for the creation of the German nation-state and how German nationalism/romanticism was linked to theories of tribalism are examined. The secular liberal culture of the 19th century leaving behind the ecumenism of the Enlightenment was accompanied by nationalism. During the crisis of 1873, these ideas were expressed politically in the above movements, particularly against emancipated Jews.
