Abstract: |
The purpose of this three-volume textbook is to serve as the first collective publication of the Department of Surgery at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). In this context, and given the number of individual topics covered, which essentially encompass all surgical specialties, the work is structured into three volumes. The second volume focuses on modern advancements in the surgical and therapeutic management of diseases related to ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, neurosurgery, and vascular surgery. It covers diabetic retinopathy, innovative approaches to hearing loss, cochlear implants, and the surgical treatment of medication-refractory epilepsy and laryngeal paralysis. Additionally, it explores specialized techniques in head and neck surgery, as well as contemporary methods for managing vascular conditions such as thoracoabdominal aneurysms, aortic dissections, and venous insufficiency. With an emphasis on the latest scientific developments, this volume serves as a valuable resource for the continuous education and training of surgeons.
