Description:
Abstract:
This chapter deals with the study of nucleophilic aliphatic substitution reactions (mechanisms SN1 and SN2) and the parameters that influence their course and outcome (effects of the electrophile, the nucleophile, the leaving group, and the solvent). Special cases of reactions, such as those proceeding via the SNi mechanism and neighboring group participation, are also discussed.
