Abstract: |
In the chapter titled “Patriarchy and Forensic Science”, it is argued that forensic science is based on a patriarchal and colonial discourse of sexual ethics that emphasizes a specific regime of truth: the stigmatization of libido and gender beyond the binary and heterosexuality as the root of pathology, criminality, and the gradual degeneration of masculinity (referred to as "mankind") through the idea of moral femininity. Thus, forensics, as a science and, therefore, as a discourse of truth representing a generalized patriarchal, classist, ableist, and colonial disciplinary interpretation of life, permeates every aspect of the body and predefines "truth," aiming to prevent "deviant" sexual urges that are supposedly responsible for causing pathology and criminal tendencies.
