Chapter 3.5 Persons outside the binary of woman/man
Authors: Pikramenou, Nikoletta

Reviewer: Chairetis, Spiros
Description:
Abstract:
This chapter focuses on persons who are outside the female/male binary. These are persons who are either born outside the binary such as intersex people, or persons who do not self-identify as men or women. The authors of the guide understand that gender is a spectrum and how a person experiences their gender is very personal and unique, therefore this chapter cannot be considered exhaustive. The purpose of the chapter is to help persons interested in the legal profession understand the existence of these individuals, as they are very likely to be confronted with related legal cases. In addition, it is deemed essential to inform them on how they should interact with individuals outside the binary without offending them. For example, the use of correct pronouns is key to protecting their human rights.
