Chapter 2. Queer studies and legal science
Authors: Pikramenou, Nikoletta

Reviewer: Chairetis, Spiros
Description:
Abstract:
This chapter connects queer studies with the legal science. First, the broader theoretical framework of queer studies is presented, with a particular focus on socio-legal topics such as social movements and the law, media and the law, and gender and the law. Further discussion of these issues will be provided in subsequent chapters. A broader understanding of the queer phenomenon is attempted to clarify how the individual becomes capable of realising relevant legislative regulations as well as the context in which they should do so. The social, political and legal co-production of legislation relevant to this issue is highlighted along with an extensive discussion of queer legal science at the end of the chapter.
