Compound and direct reactions
Authors: Nicolis, Nikolaos
Description:
Abstract:
We describe the mechanism of formation and decay of the compound nucleus, the characteristics of excitation functions of the final products, the anergy and angular distributions of the emitted particles. The other extreme of direct reactions is discussed with a simple semiclassical model for (d,p) reactions. Then, we describe the characteristics of preequilibrium reactions as a mechanism between the two extremes.
