Abstract:
In Chapter 1 of the Introduction after a historical review of the institution of Environmental Impact Assessment relevant issues of sustainable development, climate change and biological diversity as well as deforestation that accelerates the desertification process are presented. Problems concerning the marine environment and the coastal zone, solid waste disposal, settlements, energy, education and the National Land Registry are analyzed. Finally, the relationship between environmental policy and Environmental Impact Studies is developed.
