Adult education
Authors: Antoniou, Angeliki
Description:
Abstract:
Basic issues of adult education (basic needs and educational prerequisites) are presented, with specific reference to particular groups of adults such as seniors and minorities. Individuals belonging to these special categories of adults have diverse and often unmet educational needs that are not adequately addressed by educational systems. Libraries, as open spaces for everyone, can contribute to the education of different groups of adults, aiding in the development of individual knowledge and skills as well as the broader advancement of society. The chapter discusses the specific characteristics of adult groups, their particular educational needs, and ways in which libraries can meet this role.
