Abstract:
This chapter provides general knowledge of the parameters and criteria used when designing lighting in the built environment. The chapter begins with a presentation of the theories of lighting design that emerged and prevailed during the 20th century and shaped modern views on lighting design. It then presents the common procedures, parameters and criteria used in lighting design for building projects through specific uses, as well as for larger scale outdoor projects from park level design to city level lighting masterplan.
