Abstract: |
The sociological study of law is sometimes considered "distant" from the focus of legal science, especially by those who follow a strictly positivist approach. However, with the advent of socio-legal studies, law is now approached in an interdisciplinary manner, focusing on bridging legal science with other social sciences. Queer law, which belongs to socio-legal studies, challenges what has been perceived as “given” or “normal”. For example, queer law seeks to revise legal texts that are based on heteronormativity to address human rights violations and the equal treatment of various groups that are victims of patriarchy such as women, intersex and queer people. Although queer law is quite widespread in foreign countries, in the Greek legal world, there is not enough information about its existence, nor about social issues related to groups of people who are outside the heteronormative and due to that, they suffer gross violations of their rights daily. This bibliographic guide wishes to fill any gaps that exist in the curricula as well as the textbooks used in legal scholarship regarding queer law and queer theory. It aims to give readers the opportunity to learn about the importance of queer for legal scholarship and about discrimination against people who are outside the heteronormative and whose voices are often silenced, such as women (slut-shaming), persons with disabilities, polyamory persons, fat persons, persons outside the female and male binary such as intersex and non-binary but also persons who are asexual, pansexual. This is an innovative guide that aims to provide an understanding of the impact of the law on different groups and to critique the law from the perspective of these groups using queer as a tool.
