Chapter Objective: The aim of this chapter is to explore search services in RDF databases (triplestores), analogous to search services targeting human users. Contents: Semantic search capabilities in RDF databases. Dynamic querying according to the schema of the RDF graph. The SPARQL query language. Query syntax. Basic graph patterns. Variable binding. Optional values and result filtering based on criteria. Querying specific (named) RDF data graphs. New features of SPARQL 1.1: negation, grouping, subqueries, and distributed queries. Formats of SPARQL query results and their consumption by applications. Additional services: full-text indexes, ontological searches, and autocomplete mechanisms.
