Description:
Abstract:
In this chapter, students are introduced to the concept of spectrophotometry, the primary physicochemical technique used in analytical biochemical determinations. First, fundamental concepts related to electromagnetic radiation and its interaction with chemical compounds in the visible-UV spectrum are presented. This interaction explains the origins of the colors of chemical compounds. The chapter concludes with a brief description of the operating principles and organization of visible-ultraviolet spectrophotometers.
