Multiphase mass transfer
Authors: Bontozoglou, Vasilis

Description:
Abstract:
Equimolecular counter-diffusion and diffusion through a stagnant layer are reviewed. Mass transfer between two phases is considered and equilibrium conditions at the interface are discussed. Mass transfer coefficients are defined for each phase and their dependence on thermophysical properties and flow conditions are quantified by correlations of appropriate dimensionless numbers. Overall mass transfer coefficients are developed in terms of global driving forces between the phases. The specific interfacial surface and the volumetric mass transfer coefficient are defined.
