This chapter concerns the basic equipment for the pyrometallurgical treatment of the raw meal (feed) for the production of cement clinker. The various arrangements of the rotary kilns, depending on the processing method of the feed (dry or wet), are described in detail and the operating characteristics of the kilns are analyzed.
