Abstract: |
In this chapter we will present the k-Nearest Neighbor algorithm. First, we will refer to the theoretical foundation of the algorithm, its advantages and disadvantages. Next, we will present how to implement the algorithm in RapidMiner and its parameters. A detailed presentation of two case studies will follow. Real data will be analyzed and the performance of the algorithm on these two problems will be presented. Alternative strategies for implementing the algorithm will be examined, as well as how these affect the results.
