Description:
Abstract:
This book refers to the instruction of language courses and more specifically to the instruction of the Greek language as a native, second or foreign language. For this purpose, a brief historical review is first made, with the description of the structural approach that prevailed before 1970. Αlso with the presentation of the revision of basic positions of the instruction of language courses, when the center of gravity of language instruction shifted from linguistic to communicative competence. Subsequently, an interdisciplinary consideration of Language in modern teaching is attempted, through the approach of main theoretical and methodological principles of the communicative approach, but also through the presentation of modern concepts and models of written language production. For this purpose, the elements and the physiognomy of both the Curriculum and the educational material applied to the Language of the elementary school are highlighted. At the same time, the framework of principles and objectives adopted by the writing groups of the textbooks is described, as well as the proposed ways of organizing the course, with the aim of teaching narrative, descriptive and argumentative texts from the Language textbooks of the 5th and 6th grade of elementary school. In this context, the results of an extensive research are presented, through which the literacy skills of 6th grade students were investigated in the production of basic textual genres (narrative, descriptive, argumentative) after the implementation of the language instruction material introduced in 2006-07, while at the same time the evaluation tool that was applied is cited. Finally, a series of proposals for didactic implementation based on the Multiliteracies approach (2022 Curriculum) is included, which includes the teaching of multimodal texts (e.g. video, internet, films, broadcasts, advertisements, etc.) with new technologies, while at the same time taking into account the needs of children from different cultural backgrounds.
