Description:
Abstract:
Chapter 3 examines the ritornello principle as a regulative framework for the organization of musical material in the Baroque musical genres of the concerto and the operatic or oratorio aria. The methodological background adopted (Dreyfus, 1996) proposes a functional approach to the ritornello principle by prioritizing the harmonic and voice-leading parameter over the melodic one.
