Description:
Abstract:
Cataloging Cultural Objects (CCO) is a standard that provides guidelines for describing cultural objects. This chapter explains the first part of the general CCO guidelines, which describes the general model of description, what we consider a work, an image, the relationship between work and images, and issues related to cataloguing images of complex works and images. It also discusses when we make one and when we make multiple project records, what and how to declare related projects (e.g., a preparatory project) or other relevant sources and literature. In addition, it addresses description content, cataloguing depth, the core elements of a description and its minimum content, and other issues and principles of description.
