Description:
Abstract:
The mental imagery technique aims to create positive images in the minds of the athletes. These images are created with the help of imagination and depict events of the past or events that the athletes would like to experience in the future. Visualization can aid an athlete's effort to improve and maximize performance in a number of ways. By creating images related to what he wants to do, he builds confidence, improves focus and concentration, and how he should act in certain situations. In this chapter, among others, techniques and exercises are described, for the visualization of the ideal technique, the visualization of previous successful performances, the visualization of the fight, the visualization of relaxing states. Also provided are examples of the use of the technique in the physical education class at school, and in exercise programs for health reasons.
