Abstract:
This textbook attempts to collect and present, in an educational manner, the knowledge and experiences of the authoring team in the context of their research and scientific activity, aspiring that it will find its way to the audiences of their academic courses, in the field of Digital Storytelling. The present textbook’s subject matter focuses on the teaching and learning utilization of Digital Storytelling and the significant advantages that arise, at all levels and types of education. The book is divided into two parts. In the chapters of the first part, the conceptual framework of the field is examined and positioned within the scientific field. Its characteristics and the process followed are analyzed, together with the appropriate tools. Many examples and ideas are presented, while the first part concludes with an overview of the utilization of Digital Storytelling in Education. The second part presents, in more detail, additional examples of utilization on every educational level, starting from kindergarten, reaching adult education and non-formal education. Overall, the present textbook is the culmination of many years of engaging- primarily the main author- in the subjects it concerns. After 11 years of research and more than 100 academic texts and around 10 funded European programmes focusing on the topic, the relevant knowledge has matured and the time has come to share it with the educational, student and academic communities.
