Description:
Abstract:
The chapter starts by underlining the importance of the creation of digital narratives by the learners with the purpose of turning them from consumers and users to creators and producers of digital stories. The importance of storytelling for historical learning and the construction of meaning in general emerges through the relevant literature. We specifically examine the benefits and processes of constructing historical narratives in the form of videos, podcasts and web pages, in general and with connection to the subject of history in particular. As part of the creation of digital histories that include oral testimonies, we examine oral history, as well as interview techniques for the recording of witness’ testimonies. In every form of digital historical storytelling of this chapter we examine examples of digital history storytelling per category: digital narratives in video form, digital narratives in audio form (podcasts), and narrative web pages.
