Description:
Abstract:
This chapter focuses on the possibilities of using Web 2.0 in history lessons. It consists of two parts. The first part discusses the term Web 2.0 and its basic characteristics, such as its dynamic nature and its ability to interact with content, as well as the creation of historical content by the user. In addition, Web 2.0 is linked to research and teaching of the humanities (digital humanities). Next we correlate the above applications in the history course with the development of processes and concepts of historical thinking, such as the understanding of historical significance, the use of primary sources and evidence, and the analysis of the causes and consequences of historical events. In addition, we examine to the intended outcomes of historical literacy today, which aim to create students who are active subjects of knowledge, a clear change in the paradigm of historical education. In the second part, we refer to the basic principles and characteristics of distance education and the possibilities for its realization through the use of Web 2.0 technologies, and we link the methodology of distance education with the needs of history teaching. Current efforts of historical online education in primary, secondary and higher education, drawing on relevant examples abroad, conclude the chapter.
