Abstract:
This chapter focuses on the period 2009-2014, i.e. the period of the great Greek economic recession. The economic analysis is supplemented with a detached recounting of events that led successive Greek governments in agreement with the creditors. Analysis include details of the program, as well as successive governments' reactions and implementation of the conditionality measures. An explanation of the deterioration of certain economic and financial indices are provided to illustrate certain failures of the program. The chapter focuses also on the provisions and implementation of the MoU as well as the implementation of the Medium-Term Fiscal Strategy. The chapter concludes with issues regarding the implementation of the agreement.
