Abstract:
In this chapter, we present a set of applications in the area of business management and marketing, including popular problems, such as shopping basket analysis, prediction of customer’s churn, study and prediction of customer’s preferences and satisfaction. The applications are implemented with the RapidMiner data mining software, which is available as free version and is supported by rich documentation. For each application, we present its aims and explain the reasoning behind the method selection and its design. The process of implementing the analysis in practice is then presented, using the graphical environment of the software package, together with the steps for executing the analysis on training and testing data, presenting and interpreting the results.
