The ways a music therapist discovers to encourage the client engage in the music therapy process form the different music therapy models: Receptive, Compositional, Improvisational and Recreative. The psychological force chosen by the music therapist defines the music therapy approaches in Psychodynamic, Humanistic, Developmental, Cognitive-Behavioristic, Neurologic, Medical Music-psychotherapy, Music therapy in expressive arts, Community Music Therapy etc. The Nordoff-Robbins Creative Music Therapy, the Analytic, the Neurologic and the Bonny method (GIM) have been created especially for music therapy.
