In this chapter, introductory concepts and definitions are described. Specifically, the concepts of ordinary differential equation, order, general solution, particular solution, and indefinite integral are defined. Additionally, modeling of real-world problems as initial value and boundary value problems for ordinary differential equations is covered. Among these models are representative examples from Engineering, Electrical Circuits, Population Dynamics, Economics, Biology, and Computer Science.
