| Abstract: |
In this chapter, the different forms of river outflow are studied. From a terminological point of view, a clear distinction is made between estuarine and deltaic discharge systems. These are ecosystems of outstanding importance for aquatic and wading organisms and ecosystems of periodic colonization by migratory organisms.
