Ideologies and -isms
Authors: Sell, T. M.

Description:
Abstract:
This chapter examines some of the most important political ideologies, both on a more abstract level in terms of principles and values, and in a more concrete way, namely, how they have been expressed in political practice. Priority is given to liberalism, as possibly the most influential of these, and emphasis is placed on its expression in American society and politics, in contrast to conservatism, populism and libertarianism. This is followed by an analysis of socialism and communism, anarchism, and, finally, fascism and Nazism.
