Description:
Abstract:
This chapter presents the characteristics of the atmospheric boundary layer, which is the lowest atmospheric layer that is strongly influenced by the Earth’s surface. In this layer the turbulent motions prevail, and its energy balance is governed by the turbulent kinetic energy. The scales of the turbulence are also presented here as well as the similarity theory that describes the fundamental characteristics of the boundary layer.
