Description: | |
Abstract: |
In this chapter, the fundamental mechanisms of the cloud formation as well as all types of precipitation are discussed. The chapter also includes a description of the microphysical processes taking place in warm and cold clouds, the role of condensation nuclei, homogeneous and heterogeneous nucleation. These particular processes are accompanied by the corresponding mathematical formulations describing the increase of the size of hydrometeors, their terminal velocity as well as the distribution of their concentration in a cloud.
